WW2 VETERAN HILBERT MARGOL
Veteran Hilbert Margol spoke of his unparalleled experiences in WW2. He has appeared numerous times on national and local TV including a recent interview on the National Geographic Channel. He’s been featured in many articles in newspapers & magazines. At 96, he is still giving lectures and speaking on panels. He grew up in Florida & went to University of Florida. He joined the ROTC, then Reserves, before he and his twin brother were called up to the US Army to Europe in January 1945 serving in the famous US 42nd “Rainbow Division”.
Hilbert told his unbelievable story about not only fighting Germans across Europe in major campaigns, but also his eyewitness account of discovering and liberating the infamous Jewish Holocaust Camp, Dachau in Germany. His eyewitness account has been recorded by Library of Congress. Hilbert himself is Jewish. Also, he talked about his Mother’s correspondence with Pres. Roosevelt to keep he and his twin brother in the same unit. He served thru end of the war and then in the Army Of Occupation in Austria until discharged April 1946. He and his brother were successful in the furniture business for many years after the war and has lived in Dunwoody over 30 years.
